For complete peace of mind, all of our Oak & Painted Larder Units come with a 20-year structural guarantee.
To start a claim, please email us at info@lardersdirect.co.uk.
To help us understand the issue properly, we may ask you to provide clear photographs of the problem.
Once we receive your claim and images, our customer service team will review and investigate the issue. If the fault is confirmed as covered under our structural guarantee, we will arrange one of the following:
• Repair* of the product to a satisfactory standard, where possible
• If a repair is not possible, we will replace the product
• If a replacement is not available, we will offer a credit note equal to the original purchase price
All repairs are carried out by a qualified furniture technician appointed by Larders Direct.
Our 20-year structural guarantee applies to structural faults in our Oak, Hardwood, and Painted Larder Units.
This includes the core structure of the product, such as:
• Frames
• Joints
• Timber
• Panels
Hardware components (including hinges, handles, internal fittings, drawer runners, fixing bolts and brackets) are covered under our 5-year hardware guarantee.
The guarantee does not apply to the following:
1. Damage or faults caused by negligence, misuse, or accidents
2. Issues caused by incorrect cleaning or lack of maintenance
3. General wear and tear
4. Items used in commercial settings (including pubs, restaurants, shops, hotels, offices) or in properties used by the public (e.g. holiday rentals/cottages)
5. Any items sold as seconds or ex-display
6. Natural settlement – softening/compression of filling materials is normal over time (e.g. chair and stool seats, mattresses). Upholstery fabrics and fillings are not covered as they naturally wear with use.
7. Minor marks in painted finishes – our painted furniture is handmade using natural timber and finished with hand-sprayed paint. Natural characteristics such as knots, cracks, indentations, and imperfections may show through and are not classed as manufacturing defects.
8. Fine cracks/splits in painted surfaces – thin lines may appear as the natural wood underneath expands and contracts due to temperature and moisture changes. This is not a manufacturing fault. If this occurs, please contact us — we can supply a paint touch-up kit.
9. Cracks/splits in natural wood grain (Oak and Hardwood ranges) – wood is a natural material and can expand/contract depending on its environment. In rare cases, this can cause splits or cracks over time and is not considered a manufacturing defect.
10. Cosmetic upholstery wear and tear, including (but not limited to): loose stitching, loose buttons, staining, pulls in fabric, cushion/foam settlement. Chairs and stools naturally experience heavy use and movement over time.
11. Damage caused by environmental conditions, including (but not limited to): sunlight, moisture, extreme heat (such as placing the item near a radiator, or putting hot mugs/plates on the surface)
12. Damage to wood or painted surfaces caused by water or chemical contact, including (but not limited to): spills, cleaning chemicals, cosmetic products, hair products
1. This guarantee applies only to the original purchaser
2. The guarantee begins from the date of delivery (when goods are received)
3. The guarantee covers manufacturing faults only
4. The product must be used in a domestic/home environment
5. If a manufacturing defect is confirmed, we will aim to repair the item. If repair is not possible, we will replace it. If a replacement is unavailable, a credit note will be issued for the original purchase price.
6. Hardware parts (hinges, handles, internal fittings, drawer runners, fixing bolts, brackets) are covered for 5 years
7. A valid claim requires proof of purchase / receipt
8. The 20-year structural guarantee applies only to purchases made on or after 1st April 2023
-. Orders placed before this date are covered by a 5-year structural guarantee
Our Oak, Hardwood and Painted Larder Units are made using natural wood, meaning they will adjust to the conditions of your home over time.
Throughout the year, changes in temperature and humidity (from weather changes or heating being switched on/off) can affect wood furniture. This is normal, and may result in:
1. Doors or drawers sticking or closing differently at certain times of year
o This can happen as wood naturally swells or shrinks with seasonal changes.
2. In warmer or drier environments, wood may dry faster, which can increase the chance of surface shrinkage cracks.
o Wood dries from the outside inward. Because the centre remains more dense and moist, the outer layer can develop splits as it adjusts.
o This is natural and usually minimal, but it’s worth avoiding placing furniture directly in front of heat sources such as radiators.
3. In moist environments (such as bathrooms), wood can absorb moisture, expand, and swell — increasing the chance of sticking doors/drawers or surface movement.
Small cracks or splits are not unusual in natural wood and are typically nothing to worry about. In some cases, they can even relieve internal pressure in the timber. However, if you ever notice a large split or crack, please contact us so we can assess the issue.
The 20-year structural guarantee applies to orders placed from 1st April 2023 onwards.
Orders placed before 1st April 2023 include a 5-year structural guarantee on Oak & Painted Larder Units.
If your item arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as possible at info@lardersdirect.co.uk.
